MoDOT warns of Memorial Day travel delays

Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation are warning drivers to plan extra travel time this weekend because of Memorial Day.

AAA Travel predicts the number of drivers across the country this weekend to top 30 million. In addition to that, road construction projects may slow down traffic even more.

One project to keep in mind is bridge work on I-70 in Saline County. Crews are working on the bridge over the Blackwater River, which will take westbound traffic down to one lane.

MoDOT advises drivers to take alternate routes if possible. Those include Highway 36 to the north and Highway 50 to the south.
