Increasing rain chances for the weekend
An unsettled weather pattern is developing for the holiday weekend. A trough of lower pressure developing on the west coast will cause the upper level winds to shift to the southwest, sending waves of low pressure into Mid-Missouri. As surface winds shift to the south Saturday, humidity and temperatures will rise with high temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 70s.
Saturday looks like the drier day of the 3 day weekend with a slight chance of t-storms in the early morning and again west of HWY 63 in the evening. There is a better chance of overnight storms which will weaken as they move east, lingering into Sunday morning as a warm front lifts north. The morning rain is expected to end but a chance of storms returns late in the day Sunday and overnight.
We have the potential of receiving 1-2 inches of rain in most of Mid-Missouri through Monday which could cause some rivers to rise and cause minor flooding. Residents in flood prone areas are encouraged to monitor river levels through early next week.
