Fire displaces two in Jefferson City

An early Wednesday morning fire displaced two people at a Jefferson City home on Dixon Drive.

Jefferson City Fire Division Chief Jason Turner told ABC 17 News the fire started shortly before 2:30 a.m., and is not suspicious. Turner also said crews could not rule out an electrical issue as a cause.

There were no injuries, but the family lost a pet cat.

The Red Cross is assisting the family, who is now staying with relatives.

Turner estimates damage to be at about $35,000.
