Man arrested after shooting at Jefferson City gas station
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Jefferson City police have arrested a suspect in a Wednesday night shooting at a gas station that left two people injured.
Officers on Thursday afternoon arrested a 23-year-old Jefferson City man in connection with the shooting, according to a Jefferson City Police Department news release. He was already awaiting trial for first-degree robbery from a 2019 incident, police said.
Police also found the gun used in the shooting, according to the release.
A sergeant with JCPD told ABC 17 News earlier that police were sent to the 800 block of Stadium Boulevard for the weapons incident around 9:20 p.m.
Two people were shot and police said Thursday that the wounds did not appear life-threatening.
An employee at the Phillips 66 said an argument led up to the shooting, in which one man then shot at the store. The employee said the main door, a window and several items were damaged as well.
Police said the suspect was in the Cole County Jail on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Police did not name the suspect or say what led to the shooting.
