Isolated strong storms possible Sunday afternoon and evening

The line of severe storms that moved through Mid-Missouri early Sunday morning has cooled and stabilized our atmosphere Sunday afternoon.

As a result, the slight risk for severe weather has shifted further to the east, over central and southern Illinois.

As daytime heating occurs over Mid-Missouri, some instability and could return to the eastern half of the area, where there is some turning of the winds with height through the atmosphere.

A few storms that develop could become strong to severe, mainly east of Highway 63 where there is a marginal risk of severe weather from the Storm Prediction Center.

The main threats for any storms that do develop over Mid-Missouri are damaging winds and large hail.

Storms are expected to develop between 2-4 PM, and decrease through early evening.

A cold front moving through Mid-Missouri overnight could bring some additional scattered showers and storms, but these are not expected to be severe through Monday morning.
