Tracking increasing heat and humidity by late week, little to no rain

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the mid-upper 60s. Patchy fog developing early Wednesday morning.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with a few passing clouds. Highs in the upper 80s to around 90.

EXTENDED: We're in for another bright day with a few clouds passing through as a weak front stalls out just to our north. I am expecting any rain to stay up across northeast Missouri into the afternoon, allowing temperatures to reach the upper 80s to around 90 in Mid-Missouri. Winds start to shift south Thursday into Friday, allowing more humid air to filter into the region. Highs get into the lower 90s with a heat index between 96-98 Thursday, and then between 100-102 Friday through Sunday. As high pressure aloft moves farther east, we'll see the potential for "ridge runners" or waves of energy that develop along the edge of high pressure along the Mississippi River, keeping the best chances of rain Sunday and Monday east of Highway 63. Any rainfall will likely be minimal, and the jet stream continues to push further north into next week, meaning we can expect even warmer temperatures for a prolonged amount of time. Highs reach the mid-90s again by Tuesday-Wednesday and potentially beyond.
