Jefferson City Police Department needs upgraded equipment

The City Council is scheduled to vote on a resolution for a bulletproof vest partnership grant Monday night.

The Jefferson City Police Department is also waiting for updated dash camera’s for patrol cars.

Council members could vote to authorize the grant to get new bulletproof vests. The purpose of the grant is to provide extra help to the police department in buying them.

The total cost would be a little over eleven thousand dollars, but the vests aren’t the only thing police in Jefferson City need.

Less than a month ago Jefferson City Police said they are also needing to update their dash camera’s.

One issue with the new patrol cars is the old dash cam technology won’t work in them, therefore the new ones don’t have them.

The city would use the bullet proof vest grant funds for a fifty percent reimbursement of the vests purchased.
