Warming trend and rain chances

Temperatures will slowly warm up this week but will stay near or slightly below average through Thursday as northerly winds keep us mild. It will stay dry through Friday but as warmer air moves in ahead of a cold front, our weather will become unsettled as we head into the weekend.

Winds will shift to the south ahead of a cold front which will slowly move into Iowa Friday night and Saturday. Out ahead of this front, temperatures will warm into the upper 70s Saturday and Sunday as southerly winds advect warmer air into mid-Missouri. Our next chance of showers and t-storms comes late Friday night through Saturday morning. Forecast models show the potential of a few showers or t-storms forming after midnight Friday night in northern Missouri, tracking to the southeast as far as I-70 before dissipating late Saturday morning.

There is also a slight chance of spotty showers or t-storms overnight Saturday into Sunday morning and again Sunday evening and overnight, mainly in our west and northwestern counties. More widespread storms are possible Monday as the cold front slowly moves through Mid-Missouri.
