System aloft brings storm chances Sunday

A few showers and thunderstorms moved through Mid-Missouri Saturday, before rain tapered off Saturday evening. Rain chances will still continue overnight and into Sunday though. An upper level low will continue to rotate in isolated showers and thunderstorms for Sunday morning.

Storm chances will increase Sunday afternoon as the low moves northeast over Missouri. Fortunately the low will start to weaken as it moves into the area, but a few thunderstorms in southern Missouri near the Lake of the Ozarks and across I-44 could become strong. Gusty winds and heavy downpours are possible Sunday afternoon and evening. Showers and thunderstorms will begin to move out of Missouri overnight, leaving only a few light showers Monday morning. Drier conditions will return by Monday afternoon.
