Columbia man killed in car crash
A Columbia man is dead after the car he was driving Friday night ran off the roadway in Boone County.
It happened in the 4700 block of Old Mill Creek just before midnight.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said 53-year-old James Gonzales was driving southbound when he missed a curve and drove off the road. His car then went through the grass and overturned in Mill Creek, just inside Magnolia Falls Park.
Gonzales was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As of Saturday night, it was not known whether he was wearing a seat belt.
