Columbia elementary school put on lockdown
A lockdown has been lifted for a Columbia Elementary school.
Columbia Public School officials tell us New Haven Elementary was put on lockdown around 3:30 Friday afternoon after seeing a suspicious person around the school.
Police say school personnel saw a man wearing a surgical mask and carrying a bag that could have carried a long gun. Officers and Deputies searched the school and surrounding areas, clearing the scene.
It’s unclear if this person was armed. Classes were dismissed for the day, but an after school program was in session.
