Weekend Showers & T-Storms
A slow moving area of low pressure aloft will bring a few rounds of t-storms through Mid-Missouri this weekend, some which could produce heavy rainfall. Friday will be a dry, warm day but a few t-storms are possible overnight.
Although a few showers can’t be ruled out Saturday morning, the better chance comes in the afternoon through evening as a line of scattered showers & t-storms in western Missouri slowly heads east. Heavy rain is possible with some of the storms but severe storms are not expected though Saturday.
Rain moves into eastern Missouri by early Sunday morning leaving Mid-Missouri with several hours of dry weather and some sunshine which will heat temperatures into the 70s. More storms are forecast to develop Sunday afternoon and push east through the evening. Due to increased instability from daytime heating and wind shear (changing wind direction with height), a few strong or severe storms are possible late in the day. There is a slight risk of severe storms with damaging wind and large hail Sunday afternoon and evening. Storms move out of the area near midnight as cooler, drier air moves in.
Rainfall amounts from Friday night through Sunday will range from three quarters of an inch to an inch and a half with pockets of two inches possible where strongest storms occur.
