Armed robbery suspect had extensive criminal past

The Highway Patrol is still talking about the use of force that resulted in the death of an armed suspect Wednesday night.

There are still several unanswered questions as to what exactly happened during the police-involved shooting.

Wednesday night police said they were 95% sure the suspect shot and killed was Mark Adair.

However, that will not be confirmed until an autopsy is complete.

They also are still not saying if it was an MU or Columbia Police officer who shot the suspect.

We do know Adair got out of prison last Friday, and it wasn’t his first time getting out.

Five days before the deadly shooting, Mark Adair was walking out of prison on parole for a 30 year sentence.

It wasn’t his first time out on parole, rather his third.

In 1988, Adair was put in prison for kidnapping, rape, burglary, and several other convictions.

In 2005, he paroled, and then violated that parole in 2008.

In 2013, he was out on parole again, but violated that a year later, and was paroled again last Friday. An absconder warrant was issued Tuesday.

The Department of Corrections refused to give ABC 17 any specifics when it came to what exactly Adair did to violate parole each time.

Highway Patrol is not leading the investigation and awaiting fingerprints to confirm the identity.
