MU coach suspended two games for inappropriate physical contact with umpire

Missouri Head Coach, Ehren Earleywine, was suspended following his ejection from Saturday’s game against Mississippi State. Earleywine made contact with first base umpire, Cindi Brunot, while arguing a close call at first base that ended the fifth inning.

Earleywine was suspended for two games under NCAA Rule 13.3 for making inappropriate physical contact with an umpire. He will miss game three against Mississippi State, and game one of the double hitter against Western Illinois on Wednesday.

Coach Earleywine released a statement regarding his suspension prior to Sunday’s game.

“I would like to apologize for my actions yesterday which resulted in being ejected from the game. I did not intend for any contact to be made between myself and the umpire. I accept the ruling by the league office and we will move forward.”

Associate Head Coach Pete D’Amour will assume Earleywine’s duties during the suspension.
