Severe storms possible Wednesday evening

Severe weather is likely in Mid-Missouri Wednesday night into the early morning hours of Thursday.

There will be two rounds of storms, with the first batch of storms developing in eastern Kansas late Wednesday afternoon and spreading east into western Mid-Missouri by early evening. The first round of storms will bring a large hail and damaging wind risk, with the possibility of an isolated tornado.

The second round will develop later in the evening, posing a higher tornado threat.

There is a 30% chance of large hail 1″ in diameter or greater within 25 miles of a point, and a 10% chance of hail greater than 2″ in diameter within 25 miles of a point.

As far as the wind risk, there is a 30% chance of damaging winds up to 58 MPH or greater within 25 miles of a point, and a 15% chance of a tornado within 25 miles of a point. There is a 10% chance of an EF-2 to EF-5 tornado within 25 miles of a point.
