Former councilwoman Carrie Tergin chosen as next JC mayor

On Tuesday voters in Jefferson City choose Carrie Tergin to become their next mayor once Eric Struemph leaves after serving four years.

Struemph announced he would not seek re-election in October, citing health reasons and more time to spend with his family.

There were six candidates on Tuesday’s ballot for Jefferson City Mayor, including Leonard Steinman, current city council member Bob Scrivner, and former city council members Tergin, Edith Vogel, Roy Viessman, and Richard Groner.

Struemph last week endorsed Scrivner and Vogel for mayor.

Candidates came together in a forum hosted by Lincoln University to speak on their plans for the city, including the city budget, Capital Mall development, and downtown revitalization.
