Boone Co. Commission working to fill emergency management position

Boone County officials are working to fill an open emergency management position.

ABC 17 News sat down with Boone Co. Commissioner Karen Miller, who told us they are actively searching for a new director for the office.

Miller said they have compiled a short list of possible candidates and said several agencies will be involved in the hiring process.

“The people that have traditionally been involved in 911 and joint communications will be at the table and be able to meet the candidates, give their feedback to the commission, and we will take that very seriously,” said Miller.

Right now, the sheriff’s department is looking over that list and running background checks for the people on it.

Miller said they hope to have a new director by June.
