Three rounds of storms to affect Mid-Missouri

A developing storm system in the Plains will bring three rounds of showers and t-storms to Mid-Missouri. The first batch will move in Monday night after 10 p.m. ahead of a warm front moving across Kansas. These are not expected to become severe but will produce lightning, heavy downpours and possibly small hail. They will affect areas mainly north of I-70 and move out of the area by mid-morning Tuesday.

An area of low pressure will move into western Missouri Tuesday afternoon. Out ahead of it, a line of t-storms will develop by 5 pm near HWY 65 and track east through the evening. A few storms could become strong or severe, mainly south of I-70 and west of HWY 63 where instability will be the highest. Damaging winds of 58 mph or greater and 1 inch or greater hail are the primary threats. An isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. These storms will move east and out of Mid-Missouri by 11pm Tuesday.

The final round of t-storms is expected to develop ahead of a cold front near HWY 54 late Wednesday afternoon and move southeast and out of Mid-Missouri by midnight. These storms could produce severe weather with damaging winds & large hail the primary threats. These storms could also produce heavy rainfall with 1-2 inches of rainfall possible along and south of I-44 through Wednesday evening.
