UPDATED: Two arrests made in shots fired after dog is stabbed to death
Deputies arrested two men after a disturbance involving two dogs escalated into gunfire Friday night.
Josh Williams, 35, was arrested on eight different counts including unlawful use of a weapon, assault, endangering the welfare of a child and more. And deputies arrested Shaetwyn Allen, 34, for resisting arrest.
ABC 17 News has confirmed investigators with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Columbia Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the scene just north of Columbia in the 4700 block of Highway HH.
Deputies say a man stabbed and killed a dog that attacked his dog. Deputies believe Williams, the dead dog’s owner, got a gun from his home, threatened a group of people and fired several shots. He then allegedly fled.
There were no other injuries reported.
Allen bonded out of the Boone County Jail shortly after 3:30 Saturday morning. Williams is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $28,500 bond. He is set to appear in court Monday afternoon.
(Editor’s note, 3/22, 7:45 p.m.: An earlier version of the story reported Allen as the suspect arrested for killing a dog. The Boone County Sheriff’s Department says he did not kill the dog, and was taken into custody for resisting arrest. We apologize for the error.)
