2nd Missouri man set to be executed tonight

Cecil Clayton is scheduled to be executed at 6:00 Tuesday night.

Clayton was convicted of gunning down a Sheriff’s Deputy back in 1996.

Clayton asked both the Missouri Supreme Court and Governor Jay Nixon to consider his last minute argument. He claimed he is suffering from dementia and the effects are from a sawmill accident that forced doctors to remove parts of his brain.

The Missouri Supreme Court decided not to intervene on Saturday. Governor Nixon said he is weighting Clayton’s clemency request.

The execution will be the second this year for Missouri.
