Crews will fix sinkhole in Columbia

Officials plan to fix a small sinkhole in central Columbia early Wednesday.

On Monday, crews were on scene taking some measurements to get the right materials.

They think the stormwater pipe might have failed last week due to rain. The pipe was installed in the late 1960s.

The sinkhole is off Nebraska Avenue near Providence and I-70.

Emergency repairs would already be underway if the natural gas line was affected.

In less than a month, voters will go to the polls to decide on proposition two, which would improve the city’s stormwater system.
