Jefferson City School Board tackling asbestos, teacher salaries at Monday meeting

The Jefferson City School Board is tackling two big issues at Monday night’s meeting.

Board members will vote on whether to increase teaching staff salaries by 1.8%. That could include a similar raise to other classifications of teachers.

The board will also talk about contracts for removing asbestos from eight schools in the district.

The contract for asbestos abatement at East Elementary is for $76,410, $32,800 for 6 other elementary schools, and $26,700 at the high school.

The contract for roof replacement is for the district’s consultant to design the work, draw the specs, and monitor the work as its being done. That contract is for $12,160.

ABC 17 News will have a crew at the meeting and will provide further updates Monday evening.
