Lincoln University to host Jefferson City mayor candidate forum
Candidates for Jefferson City mayor are coming together for the first time Tuesday night at a forum hosted by Lincoln University.
ABC 17’s Daniel Winn is moderating the forum for all six candidates starting at 6:00 p.m.
Last fall Mayor Eric Struemph said he’s not seeking another term citing a recent health scare and his father’s battle with Alzheimer’s.
Third ward city councilman Bob Scrivner was the first to file, and he’s joined by another former council member, Carrie Tergin.
A broad range of topics are expected to be brought up Tuesday night.
Trash service is expected to be a heated discussion.
City budgets have been tight the past few years, so the candidates will likely be talking about how they plan to curb the city’s money woes.
Spending conference center money, the development of Capital Mall, downtown revitalization, and attracting jobs after the loss of R.R, Donnelly can all be expected topics.
The forum will be a town hall style meeting where anyone in the audience can ask questions.
