Snowy roads cause dozens of car accidents in Mid-Missouri

Saturday, emergency responded to multiple car wrecks with deteriorating road conditions from the snow.

According to Columbia and Boone County 911 officials, there were more than 50 car accidents and slide-offs reported from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. But there were no major injuries reported.

MoDOT officials said 27 trucks were out plowing and treating roads in Boone County. And a night crew will be treating roads overnight.

Columbia Public Works said about 24 trucks were out clearing the roads Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. A full crew of 30 trucks is expected to come in at 7:00 p.m.

Public Works in Cole County had 26 trucks plowing the roads and putting down salt.

And an official with Jefferson City Public works said there are 23 trucks concentrating on all snow routes in the city. One snow plow driver was involved in an accident with a car that slid on an icy hill, he said. But the wreck caused no injuries.
