Light snow Wednesday afternoon

After a warmer day Tuesday, temperatures will once again fall as a cold front moves through Wednesday morning. Cold air will move in from the north as a wave of low pressure from the Pacific moves in Wednesday afternoon.

As temperatures drop below freezing, a band of snow will move in during the afternoon and move out by late evening. The wave of low pressure bringing the snow will move through quickly, resulting in light accumulation of 1-2 inches in most areas with locally up to 3 inches north of I-70.

At lunch time, snow will start to fall in areas near and north of HWY 24 and gradually spread south. Temperatures will already be in the upper 20s as it moves in and accumulating snow is likely on roads. As it moves into areas south of I-70 which reach the mid 30s, some rain could be mixed in or a brief time before changing to all snow. It will be falling steady for the evening commute for most of Mid-Missouri and roads could be slick. Travelers should expect a slow evening commute.
