Crews respond to crash on Highway 63 south of Columbia

Emergency crews responded to a multiple vehicle crash just south of Columbia at around 6:30 Friday night.

Traffic was backed up on southbound Highway 63 just before 7:00 p.m., but started moving more smoothly shortly after.

ABC 17 News confirmed the Highway Patrol and Boone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash.

Emergency dispatchers said a Boone County Fire Protection District ambulance was following a car that was traveling at nearly 100 mph before the crash.

The Highway Patrol said the crash is near the Turkey Creek and Deer Park area on Highway 63.

ABC 17 News has a crew at the scene and will provide updates as soon as information becomes available.
