Columbia high school choir director charged for stalking, again

A Columbia high school choir director was arrested for stalking, again Thursday.

Boone County prosecutors charged Matthew Felts with 2 more counts of stalking after violating a restraining order by calling and texting a woman multiple times.

Court documents said Felts not only called her and texted her repeatedly, he would also wait outside her house, and even called her current boyfriend.

The arrest was based on a warrant from Columbia Police, but University of Missouri Police were the ones who actually made the arrest.

Weimer said MU Police arrested Felts Thursday, after he was released from the Missouri Psychiatric Center in Columbia.

Columbia Public Schools spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said administration is aware of his arrest and said Felts is still currently employed by CPS, and he’s currently on paid leave.

Felts was charged with stalking earlier in December for texting and messaging a woman multiple times a day.

Felts told ABC 17 News when he was first arrested that the allegations are untrue and he’s not sure why he’s being called a threat.

Felts has already posted his $30,000 bond and is out of jail Friday night.
