Six people file to become next Jefferson City mayor

The deadline expired at 5 p.m. Tuesday for anybody trying to run in the April elections. ABC 17 News confirmed six people are currently in the running for Jefferson City mayor.

Mayor Eric Struemph already announced last October he is not seeking another term, following his own scare with bladder cancer and his father’s battle with Alzheimer’s.

Third Ward city councilman Bob Scrivner was the first person to file for the office. Another former council member, Carrie Tergin, has also tossed her hat in the ring.

All of the council seats will go unopposed, along with an open spot as city judge and prosecutor.
