Fundraising page set up for JC family displaced by fire

A Jefferson City family displaced by an apartment fire is in desperate need.

ABC 17 News reported last week a 14-year-old was accused of arson after a New Year’s Day fire on West Main Street.

Neighbors said they heard an explosion and saw a boy running from the area.

Police said the fire was started by a gas canister.

Among those displaced is a mother and her eight children. She told ABC 17 News they’re trying to figure out how to move forward.

“It’s kind of hard for them to know, you know, they don’t have the proper clothes or shoes or socks right now,” said Malonasia Cobbins, mother of eight. “Right now, they’re so grateful and thankful too.”

Her daughter, Shamel Robinson, has set up a Go Fund Me account to help raise money for the family in their time of need.
