Multiple Mid-Missouri DWI arrests on New Year’s Eve

Eight people were arrested for drinking and driving in Mid-Missouri so far during the New Year’s counting period.

Troopers said they pulled over three drunk drivers last night.

Both Columbia and Hallsville police caught four others.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department also landed another DWI arrest.

New Year’s Eve is known as the second deadliest day of the year for drivers.

The holiday counting period is in effect until midnight Sunday.

During the same time last year, there were no traffic deaths.
