Columbia man got out of parked car before he was hit

The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed a man parked on the side of the road and got out of his truck before he was hit and killed the day after Christmas.

Officials say 29-year-old Gregory Anderson of Columbia crossed Highway 63 near the exit at north Rangeline Friday afternoon.

Anderson’s brother also told ABC 17 he was clipped by a car right before he was hit by another vehicle driven by a 73-year-old woman in the southbound lanes.

Boone County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Gale Blomenkamp told ABC 17 News the accident closed the southbound lane of Highway 63.

This is the fourth traffic fatality since December within Troop F’s jurisdiction, which involves much of Mid-Missouri.
