Councilwoman’s recall effort moves forward

The effort to recall First Ward Council Member Ginny Chadwick is moving forward. Columbia’s city clerk gave word the petitioners had gathered enough signatures to get the recall on the election ballot.

Earlier this month, COMO Council Watch and other citizen groups delivered 451 signatures to the city clerk’s office.

The city clerk had 30 days to ensure that those signatures were from valid First Ward voters.

On Tuesday, the city clerk sent COMO Council Watch a letter confirming the group had gathered a sufficient number of valid signatures for the recall effort to move forward.

It ensures First Ward voters will have a chance to vote on Chadwick’s recall in April.
