Police: same suspect robbed two Columbia banks

Columbia Police have released a suspect photo following a December 9 robbery at UMB bank on Chapel Hill Road and Forum Boulevard. They also believe this suspect is the same one from the Regions Bank robbery on Monday.

Columbia Police said the suspect was a white man between 20-30 years old, about 5’8″ to 5’9″, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a ball cap, sunglasses, a dark colored sweatshirt, and dark pants. The suspect demanded money from the teller and left with an unknown amount.

He left the bank on a bicycle.

The bank is just down the street from the Forum entrance to the MKT trail.

Dispatchers said officers were searching the McBaine area for the suspect, and asking joggers on the trail if they had seen anyone matching the description.

Dispatchers said a bicycle was found on a dead-end street near Chapel Hill Rd.

Officers were searching a wooded area near Chapel Hill Tuesday afternoon. The FBI is involved in the investigation.
