Woman escapes late night trailer fire in Columbia

A woman is recovering after a trailer fire on Rock Quarry Road in Columbia late Monday night.

Both city and county units responded to the scene just before 11 p.m.

A woman managed to escape the burning trailer by breaking through a window. Crews on the scene told ABC 17 News a passerby helped the woman get out of the trailer. The victim had injuries to her hands, but the extent of those injuries was unknown as of Monday night.

Officials with the Columbia Fire Department told ABC 17 News crews were able to get the fire under control within 15 minutes.

A fire marshal was on scene working to determine the cause.

As of early Tuesday morning, the cause is still under investigation and damage estimates were not available yet.
