Boonville schools on alert for suspect search

School officials in Boonville confirmed their outside doors were locked on Monday while troopers searched for a suspect who escaped a traffic stop.

Highway Patrol confirmed a car was stopped for a traffic violation around 11 a.m. on I-70 westbound near the 104 mile marker. The driver did not have a valid license and was also wanted for an outstanding warrant.

Another person got out of the passenger seat near the rest area and ran away. He is described as a black man, around 6′ tall and 280 pounds.

The Boonville district confirmed three schools on the same campus near Highway 5 and I-70 were placed on a modified lockdown, which means students were allowed to move around inside on their normal schedules.

It affected Boonville High School, Hannah Cole Primary, and the Boonslick Technical Education Center. Classes were dismissed on time after getting an all-clear around 2:30 p.m.
