Woman dies in Mid-Missouri house fire

An early morning fire Friday killed a Randolph County woman near Higbee.

Officials said the fire broke out around 6:15 a.m. and destroyed a home on County Road 2420 about six miles west of Higbee.

Two people were in the house at the time. A man was taken to the hospital and the woman’s body was recovered just after noon.

Firefighters remained on the scene, cleaning up and searching for a cause. The identity of the couple has not been released.
