Jefferson City man pleads guilty to federal meth distribution

A Jefferson City man pleaded guilty in federal court to a meth distribution conspiracy.

35-year-old John Overstreet pleaded guilty to the charge contained in a February indictment.

Undercover officers completed multiple drug transactions with Overstreet and searched two Capital City apartments in January.

When officers arrived, they found Overstreet in the hallway. He ran into a bedroom where he tried to hide something in his pants. Officers were able to get the object, a bag containing meth in individual bags, from Overstreet.

Overstreet told officers he traveled to Joplin twice to get at least 7 ounces of meth. Overstreet was working with 40-year-old Jose Escobedo, a co-defendant in the case who has also pleaded guilty in the conspiracy.

Another co-defendant, 26-year-old Victoria Voisard of Fulton, has pleaded guilty to one count of distributing crack cocaine and one count of distributing meth.

Overstreet could face a minimum sentence of 5 years in federal prison without parole, and a maximum of 40 years without parole, and a fine of up to $5 million.
