Freezing rain Thursday morning, measurable rain Friday

Wednesday will bring warmer afternoon and evening temperatures as high pressure continues to sit to our north.

Clouds increase late Wednesday afternoon, and rain begins to move in from the south late Wednesday night. As temperatures drop below freezing at the surface, this precipitation will make contact with the ground as freezing rain, mainly north of Highway 50 by 4-5 a.m. Thursday. Areas further north, along and north of I-70 where low temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler, have more of a freezing rain risk.

A glaze to 0.05″ of ice is expected north of Highway 50 through 9-10 a.m. tomorrow. This could make roads slick through the morning commute and early afternoon Thursday, depending on temperatures through the first part of the day.

Some re-freezing is possible late Thursday night into early Friday, before temperatures warm well above freezing Friday.

A warm front will lift north into Missouri overnight Thursday into Friday, bringing measurable rain to the area. Rain will exit the area to the north and east before dawn Saturday, leaving 1-1.5″ total across Mid-Missouri.

Saturday will be a dry, mild day as temperatures reach near our seasonal average in the mid-40s. Sunday will be slightly warmer with a chance of light rain late in the day and more clouds.
