Callaway County Sheriff’s Office: Convicted murderer in custody

The Mexico Public Safety Department arrested Stephen Thorp on Tuesday, June 29 after he fled from Callaway County deputies earlier in the week.

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Callaway County Sheriff's Department says Stephen Thorp was taken into custody Tuesday in a nearby county after leading deputies on a chase.

Thorp was wanted in reference to a Randolph County misdemeanor warrant for resisting arrest. Thorp does have a past murder conviction but was on supervised parole.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office said Stephen Thorp took off from deputies on Saturday in a vehicle chase then a foot chase.

The Mexico Public Safety Department arrested Thorp on Tuesday, according to authorities. Audrain County Sheriff Matt Oller said Thorp was out-processed from the Audrain County Jail Wednesday morning and returned to the Department of Corrections on his parole violations.
