Authorities prepare for NAACP march to Jefferson City

The NAACP has started its march from Ferguson to Jefferson City this week, planning to end at the Governor’s Mansion and State Capitol this weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be in charge of security for the event, but other agencies including the Jefferson City Police, Cole County Sheriff’s Department, Capitol Police, and Lincoln University Police will be on hand to make sure the event safe for marchers and the community.

Jefferson City Police said they’re working with the local NAACP chapter and expect the march to be positive and peaceful.

Holiday events such as the downtown living windows and Christmas parade are planned in the Capital City this weekend.
