No. 17 Mizzou comes back, advances to SEC championship game

Marcus Murphy scored the go-ahead touchdown with 4:38 left in the game, as No. 17 Missouri beats Arkansas 21-14 to clinch the SEC East Division. Mizzou will advance to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, and will face either Mississippi State or Alabama.

The Tigers were down 14-6 at halftime, as Andrew Baggett hit a 52-yard field goal and a 50-yard field goal in the second quarter.

It wasn’t until less than 13 minutes in the game until the Tigers found the endzone. Maty Mauk threw a 4-yard pass to Jimmie Hunt for the touchdown. Bud Sasser then hit Darius White for the two-point conversion to tie the game at 14.

The Missouri defense was able to hold the Arkansas rushing attack to 155 rushing yards. The Tigers held onto the ball for 32:33, allowing its defense to rest and holding the Arkansas offense off the field.

Mizzou captures its fifth division title under Gary Pinkel and also gets its fifth 10-win season under the Tigers’ winningest coach.
