Police respond to bank robbery in east Columbia

Police responded to reports of a robbery around 5 p.m. at First State Community Bank near Home Depot by the connector in east Columbia.

Officers later confirmed the robber acted like he had a gun, but the teller did not see one. The man escaped with cash on a bike going northbound on Highway 63. No one was injured.

Officials say the suspect is 30 to 35 years old, between 5’6″ and 5’8″, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, a light-colored sweatshirt and dark pants.
