New community foster home opens in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A new community foster home opened in Jefferson City.

Coyote Hill is located off Karen Drive near downtown.

Six foster children will be able to live in the residence at once.

We spoke to Karie Hopkins with Coyote Hill who says the number of children in foster care in Missouri is continuing to increase.

Hopkins said, "In the state there are over 20,000 children in foster care and that number has steadily increased over the last 5 to 10 years. In Cole County alone there are nearly 150 children in care right now."

Hopkins says four Jefferson City boys are currently being housed at Coyote Hill.
