Miller Co. pleads guilty to stabbing step-niece, sentenced to life in prison
A Miller County man pleaded guilty in the stabbing death of his step niece last summer.
Steven Henderson was charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action for the June 2013 killing of 13-year-old Macala Shelton.
The armed criminal action charge was dropped in a plea deal. The judge waived the death penalty, but sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
State troopers said Henderson told them he stabbed Shelton with a large survival knife.
Henderson also told troopers where the knife was disposed of.
Macala’s parents both testified at the court appearance Friday.
