Man sentenced to life in prison for shooting, injuring girlfriend
A man who was convicted in October of multiple charges stemming from shooting his girlfriend was sentenced to life in prison.
Alfonso Rodriguez was charged with domestic assault, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest for the May 2013 shooting of his girlfriend, Giesela Angel-Lopez.
The shooting happened in the 5600 block of South Route K on May 26, 2013. Rodriguez allegedly shot her from inside his truck, then led police on a pursuit that ended on I-70.
Rodriguez apparently told detectives he shot Angel-Lopez because he was angry at her for dating other men.
