Two Columbia men face charges for raping teen
Two Columbia men are back at home after being charged with raping a teen.
Thursday, Boone County Prosecutors charged 73-year-old Jerry Colster and 76-year-old Don Landers for statutory sodomy.
The two men have already been bonded out of Boone County Jail as of early Thursday morning.
Court documents say the first meeting between Colster and the 14-year-old victim was back in 2011 at Midway Travel Plaza in the second floor restroom where Colster and the victim preformed sexual acts on one another. It also says the victim told detectives he first met Landers between 2011 and 2012 in a shower area of a public facility as well where they exchanged phone numbers.
Authorities outside of Boone County told Columbia Police in July an investigation was open regarding a statutory sodomy.
Police checked into it and said Colster engaged in sexual acts with the victim over a three year period from July 2011 to January of this year.
The court documents show when the victim was 16, he went to Colster’s home in Columbia at least once where both Colster and Landers engaged in sexual acts with the victim.
And the court documents say Colster admitted to that crime and the one at the truck stop.
The court documents also say the victim told police he had sexual intercourse with Landers on a separate occasion near the victim’s home in Cooper County.
Both Colster and Landers will appear in court on December 2nd.
If convicted, both men could face lengthy prison sentences and would have to register as sex offenders.
The Boone County Prosecutor’s Office said it is requesting a special prosecutor in the cases because of a conflict within the office.
