Committee recommends two JC high schools

Tuesday night, Jefferson City Public School’s long range facility planning committee recommended the district move to a two high school system.

The committee is recommending a renovation of the current high school and building a new one at the school’s property at 179 and Mission Drive.

About 100 people came out to presentation at Lewis and Clark Middle School.

Other alternatives were also considered including two new high schools, and completely overhauling the current JC High with a major addition.

At November’s planning meeting they’ll discuss any input from Tuesday’s public meeting.

At December’s school board meeting the committee is expected to present their recommendations. The board will then decide, when and if, they want to take the recommendation to voters for final approval.
