Columbia police: homeless man started 6 different fires

A homeless man was arrested early Monday, accused of starting six different fires over the course of 24 hours across downtown Columbia.

Police claim Willis Stokes set fire to bulletin boards near Cafe Berlin on Tenth Street and Tellers by Eighth Street and Broadway.

Some grass was also lit on fire at Flat Branch park, along with a dumpster off East Ash Street and a trash can at Ninth and Cherry streets.

Stokes remains in jail on nearly $40,000 bond.
