70 people to lose jobs in Jefferson City

A software company in Jefferson City called DST will be closing its doors on December 31st, 2014.

Nearly 70 people will be losing their jobs who work for the company.

DST said many of the workers in Jefferson City have been offered a relocation option to their Kansas City office to retain employment.

On Thursday, Chamber members told ABC 17 they will be holding a job fair in the future to help DST employees find work.

They also did this last year when RR Donnelley closed down leaving nearly 500 people without a job.

DST said they will provide a good severance for those losing their jobs.

The Department of Economic Development requires businesses who are laying off more than 60 employees to report it within 60 days notice.

A spokeswoman said they have not received a copy of that report.
