Jury recommends life plus 32 years in prison for alleged shooter

The trial for a man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the neck in May 2013 wrapped up in Columbia Thursday.

Alfonso Rodriguez was found guilty of 1st degree domestic assault, resisting arrest, and armed criminal action after he allegedly shot his girlfriend while driving on Route K last spring.

The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison plus 32 years, and Rodriguez will be sentenced by a judge sometime next month.

The victim took the stand once again while the jury was recommending his sentence, and Rodriguez’ uncle testified for the defense on Thursday.

Other witnesses testified earlier this week.
